About the event

Celebrate Black Artists!  A series of classes introducing children to black artists and art. This series is open to children in grades Kindergarten-2nd grade.

This session is about the life and art of the amazing Alma Woodsey Thomas. A black American painter known for her bright and  colorful abstract paintings.

In this class, Ms. Nyale will introduce the students to Alma Woodsey Thomas. They will  learn about her life, accomplishments and art. Nyale will take them through a mini Alma gallery and let the students share their thoughts and observations. After the learning portion of the class,  the students will be able to create their very own Alma inspired art!

There will be 2 projects in this class. Students will draw and paint (acrylic) a landscape on canvas  in Alma's style and they will use paint pens to hand paint a ceramic  plate for display using Alma's signature style.

Nyale Pieh is the programs manager at Arrow Creative. She is a former educator with over 15 years of experience and a self-proclaimed art enthusiast.
