A few things you will need to know about EMDP as an applicant:

 

APPLICANTS:  

MFW is looking for designers ages 13+ at all skill levels to submit between 1-5 complete looks for a chance to showcase their designs on the runway with professional models, hair and makeup. Looks should be created for Spring/Summer 2021. All looks must be new designs created for this specific season. Designers applying should not gross more than $50,000/year as a fashion designer. Those designers grossing more than $50,000/year should apply to be shown as a featured designer.

 

DEADLINES:

Submit online application of designs and mood boards by Friday October 30th, 2020 for S/S '21. Each design illustration must be numbered and will be referred to by that number throughout the process. All images uploaded must be professional as they will be used in EMDP social media going forward. All uploads should be in one google drive folder with a link provided.

Memphis Fashion Week will be held Spring 2021.

Final Garments are due Friday March 13th, 2021. No exceptions.

 

DESIGNER APPLICANT OPPORTUNITIES:

TEENS: Designers ages 13-17 years old may submit 1-2 looks to be a part of the EMDP Teen Showcase.  Looks do not have to be a cohesive collection, but should be fashion forward designs for Spring/Summer 2021.

SINGLES: Designers may submit between 1-3 looks to be a part of the EMDP Singles Showcase.  Looks do not have to be a cohesive collection, but should be fashion forward designs for Spring/Summer 2021.

MINI COLLECTION: Designers should submit 5 cohesive Spring/Summer 2021 looks to be applicable for the EMDP Mini Collections Showcase.

 

CHOSEN DESIGNERS:

Throughout the designing process designers will have mandatory check-ins with MFW, giving each designer one-on-one mentoring. The EMDP liaison/mentor will lend their expertise and critique as you prepare for the runway. Fashion professionals will judge the applicants and decide which garments are accomplished enough to make it to the runway. Chosen designers will also be expected to attend events during MFW 2021.

WINNING DESIGNER: One designer from each category will be chosen by the judge's and a People's Choice designer will be selected by the audience.  Winners will receive a VIP goodie bag from Memphis Fashion Week, a partial scholarship to Arrow Community Education classes, cash prizes, and a membership to Arrow fashion creatives.
