Week 1: June 6-10

Explore your inner artist! In this class you will learn to draw while you build your skills through projects that emphasize the building blocks of art: shape, line, color, form and value. Create in a fun and inventive atmosphere for learning.

This course is designed to teach the basic skills of 2d animation while learning many useful techniques. You will animate shorts that focus on the 12 principles of animation using industry software. You will learn about motion and force and go in depth about the different fields of the animation industry. Event if fluent in animation, this class is suggested for more practice.

Bring out your creativity through clay! Learn the basics of handbuilding with clay to create functional pots and sculptures that you can really use! You will learn about techniques and textures, as well as different methods of surfacing finishing.

Through various projects they will transform their own unique ideas into a 3D reality while learning hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and constructing with slabs. We will explore decorative techniques to finish the pieces such as underglaze painting, carving, and stamping.

Learn the basics of illustration on an iPad using Procreate, the industry standard in design. You'll explore basic drawing techniques through a wide range of projects, from simple sketches to finished illustrations. You'll learn the vocabulary and concepts used by today's digital artists. Students will use provided tablets to create your digital illustrations.

Explore how to build a photo story from beginning to end. Students will develop an original photo story based on a subject or event of your choice. Photographers of all skill levels will seek rich subject matter and learn how to make compelling photos to group together into a complete story. Learn tools like building a shot list, gaining access, and writing captions. There will be in-person discussions and group reviews. Students should come prepared with a digital camera or may rent one through Arrow.
